General Rules

  1. Safety and Ethics:
    The Credence Book of World Records prioritizes the safety, well-being, and ethical conduct of all participants. Record attempts that could lead to harm, damage, or negatively impact health, morality, or societal welfare will not be recognized or accepted.
  2. Approval Process:
    The decision to approve or disapprove any record attempt is at the sole discretion of the Credence Book of World Records team. All decisions made by the team are final and binding.
  3. Submission of Claims:
    Record attempts must be registered online. For certification, all required documentation must be submitted to the Credence Book of World Records office.
  4. Verification Timeline:
    The approval and certification process may take between 1 to 10 weeks, depending on the chosen processing option (instant recognition, fast processing, or standard processing).
  5. Witness Requirements:
    A minimum of two independent witnesses must be present during the record attempt. Witness statements must be signed and submitted with the record claim.
  6. Adjudication:
    Credence Book of World Records team members are not required to be present during the attempt. However, authenticity must be validated through witnesses or adjudicators.

Claiming a Record

  1. Submission Requirements:
    Materials for record claims must be sent to the appropriate Credence Book of World Records office, including the Claim ID, Applicant’s Name, Address, and Contact Details.
  2. Required Documents:
    • Completed Record Application/Claim Form.
    • Photographs and video footage of the record attempt.
    • Media coverage (if available).
    • Signed witness statements.
  3. Digital Evidence:
    Any digital media (e.g., CD/DVD) must be labeled with the claimant’s name, record attempted, address, and contact information.
  4. Verification and Approval:
    The verification process may take 1 to 3 days. Incomplete documentation may result in claim rejection.
  5. Ownership of Submitted Materials:
    All submitted materials become the property of the Credence Book of World Records and will not be returned.
  6. Final Approval:
    Records are only recognized and published after thorough verification.

Inviting an Adjudicator

  1. Notification:
    Notify the Credence Book of World Records at least one month before the record attempt if an adjudicator is requested.
  2. Travel and Accommodation:
    The attempted or sponsor is responsible for the adjudicator’s travel and accommodation expenses.
  3. On-the-Spot Certification:
    The adjudicator may issue on-the-spot certification if the attempt is successful and meets all criteria.

Evidence Requirements

  1. Cover Letter:
    Include a cover letter detailing your record attempt.
  2. Participant Details:
    Provide detailed information about all participants, including photographs and signatures.
  3. Witness Statements:
    Submit detailed witness statements with their photographs and signatures.
  4. Video Footage:
    Provide high-quality video footage of the record attempt.
  5. Photographs:
    Submit high-resolution color photographs.
  6. Media Coverage:
    Include any available media coverage related to the record attempt.

Category-Specific Rules

  1. Biggest and Smallest:
    Objects must be measurable and distinctive to qualify in this category.
  2. Plants and Animals:
    Records must showcase extraordinary characteristics of plants or animals.
  3. Mass Record:
    A minimum of 150 participants is required. Proper documentation and witness statements are mandatory.
  4. Unique Record:
    The event or object must be one-of-a-kind. Proof of ownership and authenticity is required.
  5. Collection:
    Collections must consist of over 200 verifiable items in good condition.
  6. Endurance:
    Participants must demonstrate exceptional stamina, with a registered medical practitioner present.
  7. Young Achievers:
    Participants under 18 require proof of age and parental/guardian consent.
  8. Achievement & Initiatives:
    This category honors achievements or initiatives with a significant social, regional, or organizational impact.
  9. One Minute Miracle:
    Tasks must be completed within one minute, with precise electronic timing and mandatory video and photographic evidence.
